Michael Schuchat

Michael E. Schuchat is a Florida attorney whose practice centers on community association law, real property rights, construction and commercial litigation, and cooperative and mobile home park purchase, sale, financing, and refinancing transactions. He represents homeowners’ associations, condominium associations, cooperative mobile home corporations, recreational vehicle parks, and manufactured-home communities throughout Florida in matters involving governance, covenant enforcement, and member relations. His practice also extends to representation of Florida contractors and homeowners in residential construction arbitration and litigation legal proceedings, secured transactions, replevin, foreclosure actions, collections, and complex contractual and real-property disputes.

Known for his practical approach and substance over form, Mr. Schuchat routinely advises boards of directors, property owners, and management entities on compliance with Florida Statutes Chapters 719, 720, 723, and 513, as well as related procedural rules and regulatory frameworks, to ensure clients understand the technical aspects of community association law with the practical realities of community management and business operations. His practice includes the preparation of community governing-documents and amendments, administrative complaint defense, presuit mediation, arbitration, and litigation representation. He also helps resident-owned communities with real estate transactions as a Title Agent for The Fund/Old Republic Title Insurance Company.

Mr. Schuchat earned his Juris Doctor degree in Drake University Law School and is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts and the federal courts of the Middle District and Southern District of Florida.

In the community, Mr. Schuchat is a member of the Sarasota County Bar Association and the Manatee County Bar Association. He is a former board member and current member of the Sertoma Club of Sarasota and a supporter of its flagship initiative, Sertoma Kids, Inc., which supports local children with speech, language, and therapy services.
