1 Killed, 3 Injured in North Port Car Accident

According to police reports, Joshua Mote, a former North Port High School student, was killed and three other people injured in a car accident on Sunday afternoon. The police state that Mote was 18 or 19.

The report states, a car driven by a 23 year old Venice resident, Dennis Shambora, was headed south on Yorkshire Blvd. near Prince Blvd. on Sunday around 5 p.m. The vehicle Shambora was driving ran a stop sign and struck the car carrying Mote on the passenger side. Following the collision, Shambora’s car rolled over throwing him from the vehicle.

After being airlifted to Blake Medical Center’s Trauma Center in Bradenton, Mote was pronounced dead and Shambora was listed in serious condition. Two other occupants in Mote’s vehicle, 42 year old North Port resident, Erin K. Sechrest, and Mote’s brother Krishna Mote, were also airlifted to Blake Medical Center. Both were listed in serious condition.

According to the police, the crash is still under investigation and charges are still pending.
